Stockmarket tips from Jesus?

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles is in financial difficulties. It reported a deficit of $14.3 million in the fiscal year ending June 2003.

Contrary to what you might think, only about half of the deficit was due to the settling of the past year's claims of priestly sexual abuse.

Another factor in the deficit was lower than expected returns from the stockmarket on the Archdiocese's investment portfolio.

The archdiocesan spokesman, Tod Tamberg, is reported[1] to have commented:

"It's a shame that Jesus can't give us a stockmarket tip now and again."

I think it's unlikely that Jesus will be giving the L.A. Archdiocese stockmarket tips anytime soon. That would be a miracle. My view on miracles can be found in Meditation 126. Jesus's view on this type of miracle can probably be inferred from Mark 11:15.[2]
