Meeting the standards for knowledge

The Association of Christian Schools International along with several individual Christian schools and their pupils are suing the University Of California, Berkley and UCLA.
They are claiming "viewpoint discrimination" because the universities are refusing admission to students who were taught biology with "Biology for Christian Schools" as a primary textbook.
According to the universities, this book, published by Bob Jones University Press, does not reflect "knowledge generally accepted in the scientific and educational communities and with which a student at the university level should be conversant."
The textbook itself pulls no punches on the issue of what is being taught.
The people who have prepared this book have tried consistently to put the Word of God first and science second. To the best of the author's knowledge, the conclusions drawn from observable facts agree with the Scriptures.
It seems straightforward to me. This textbook is designed to teach the Bible, not biology.
And it also seems to me that if a school uses textbooks from The Bob Jones University Press, then the best its students can aspire to is to attend Bob Jones University. Why would they feel the right or the need to go to a university which expects them to think outside the book?
