Prayer and the Plan (continued)

After writing briefly about prayer and God's plan last week, both came to my attention once again.
God's Plan
In a televised interview with Sean Hannity, accused murderer George Zimmerman placed the blame for the death of the unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin firmly on God.
Hannity: "Is there anything that you regret? Do you regret getting out of the car to follow Trayvon that night? Do you regret that you had a gun that night?"
Zimmerman: "No, sir, I feel that it was all God's plan and not for me to second-guess it or judge it."
There you have it. A young man is dead, not because of anything Zimmerman did, but because it was all part of God's plan.
If anything shows the moral vacuum in the heart of the very concept of God's plan, it is Zimmerman's pointing his trigger finger directly at God.
Prayer:
The following advertisement looking for a free car was posted on the Fayetteville edition of Craig's list this week.
Hmmmm. Trusting in God to provide the car, yet feeling it necessary to post the request on Craig's list? It does not sound as if his trust in God to provide is really that high.
And given the poster is really asking for God to provide him with the opportunity to spend money that he does not have on registration, insurance, maintenance and fuel, we can see that we can see the stupidity behind such prayer requests. The poster is asking for his problems to be increased rather than taking responsibility for reducing them.
God's plan and prayer: both are nothing more than simple-minded ways of evading personal responsibility.
