No doubt you have heard it said: "We are all born as atheists:" Atheists are very fond of saying so. But they are wrong. No one is born believing, let alone knowing, there is no god, any more than they are born believing or knowing there is.

The fact of the matter is, we are born not believing or knowing anything about gods at all, one way or the other. In other words, we are all born as agnostics. Not only that, when we are born, we don't care either. Caring about the existence of gods, one way or the other, only happens after others have influenced us.

Therefore, we are not born as atheists but rather as apathetic agnostics. Those of us who have been wise or lucky enough to overcome the theistic or atheistic nonsense of others to return to that state of innocence into which were originally born can take pride and solace in being "born again apathetic agnostics."
