Re-Imagining Religion: unique creations

I dream of a religion that acknowledges we are biological marvels, not mindless drones reciting sacred verse syllable for syllable, but a religion that recognizes we are unique creations carrying within every cell of our being the genetic legacy of our human ancestors and the evolutionary legacy of life on this beautiful blue planet.

I dream of a religion that recognizes we are unique creations, unlike any other human past, present or future, not cardboard cutouts chanting hallelujah for eternity, but unique creations crafted by nature and nurture, sculpted by DNA, parents and society.

I dream of a religion that appreciates every human is a singular blend of strengths and weaknesses, virtues and vices, passions and prejudices, not a religion that believes we are natural born sinners desperately in need of redemption, but a religion that recognizes we carry within us the good, the bad, the beautiful and the ugly, a religion that realizes we have the potential to be wonderful humans and we have the potential to be monstrous.

I dream of a religion that comprehends we are social individuals, a religion that understands we have similarities and we have differences, a religion that appreciates the similarities define us as a species while the differences define us as individuals, a religion that recognizes our similarities bind us while our differences distinguish us.
