Superbowl Prophecy Fail

Monday, last week in his Prophetic Perspective on Current Events webcast, Rick Joyner of MorningStar Ministries stated that if the Carolina Panthers won the Superbowl, it meant that the Third Great Awakening* was at hand.
Because, of course, God sends his messages via the performance of US football teams. So close is the link between God and American football, according to Joyner, that football stadiums are not really intended for football.
Many of the stadiums being built for football teams especially, in America were being built for revival. All these stadiums are going to be filled - with - um - worshipers - with people seeking the Lord. -- Rick Joyner
It wasn't that long ago that "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy" meant something other than a football game, and linking God to the outcome of a professional sporting event conducted on a Sunday would have been regarded as rank blasphemy. But then, Christians in general don't understand Christianity -- they don't even read their own holy text which they freely demand everyone else read.
Anyway, given the stated odds on the game suggested that the Panthers should win, Joyner probably though he was making a reasonably safe prediction when he based his prophecy on a Panthers win.
Happily, they lost. The Third (or Fourth) Great Awakening is, after all, not at hand.
I should point out that there was a prophecy by David E Taylor of FiveFold Ministries that Denver would win the Superbowl. But it was for the 2014 game. Of course Denver lost that year.
So, what are we to learn?**
As usual, prophecy is bullshit. And don't bet money on the outcome of football games based on prophecy. If you must bet, remember, a great defense generally (though not always) defeats a great offence. But keep God out of it.
Note:
* According to Wikipedia, "The Third Great Awakening refers to a hypothetical historical period proposed by William G. McLoughlin that was marked by religious activism in American history and spans the late 1850s to the early 20th century. It affected pietistic Protestant denominations and had a strong element of social activism." And yet, there are numerous recent predictions... ooops, sorry, prophecies on Christian websites such as Charisma and Christian Post saying this Third Great Awakening is about to happen. In other words, Christians can't count.
** Believers should learn from this that God isn't interested in Great Awakenings or Raptures or End Times and she deliberately orchestrated the Denver win to make her point.
