Every time there's a natural disaster resulting in death, you can be assured that at least one Christian preacher is going to seize the moment to claim that it is proof that God is pissed off at America for one "sin" or another. Oh they'll blame it on the legalization of booze, abortion, same sex relationships, marijuana, or even which toilet people choose to use. But no matter how little connection the victims have with the supposed sin in question, they are the ones God has chosen to demonstrate his wrath.

Let's consider this. Over the past 50 years or so, there has been a steady drop in the number of deaths in the USA from lightning - from well over 100 a year to less than 30.*

I guess it's fair to assume that Zeus approves of abortion, same sex marriage, smoking marijuana, and Caitlin Jenner using the women's room.
