Remaking 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid'

There's a widely reported rumor on the web that Tom Cruise and John Travolta are planning to remake the film 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.' As this is not currently mentioned on Cruise's official web site, I suspect the rumour is just an April Fool's joke that has escaped in to the wild. But of course, it might also be true.
In my opinion, if Cruise and Travolta are intent on remaking a Redford / Newman classic, it would be more appropriate if the two Scientologists took on the con-game movie, The Sting.
